Our customer, TCi construction WORKS is a specialist construction contractor providing commercial building works for pharmaceutical, medical, food and hi-tech manufacturing and other highly regulated industries including nuclear, defence and healthcare. The end user is a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

The brief

JD Cooling Group’s HVAC department were employed by TCi following a competitive tender to design and install bespoke environmental control services to support the end-user’s new cleanrooms within their new state-of-the-art hygiene facility, which manufactures over the counter medicines.

From the outset, JD Cooling have provided a professional and reliable service, engaging proactively in the design process to overcome challenges and identify opportunities to enhance value at every stage.

The solution

The new state-of-the-art hygiene facility consists of the following:

Five full function bespoke air handling units offering:
- Chilled water cooling
- LTHW steam heating
- Dehumidification
- Humidification
Controls for the AHU and trend BMS services
All ductwork
Steam services including plate heat exchanger to LTHW
Condensate services
Chilled water services
Pump sets
Full commissioning and balancing to IQ (Installation Qualification)

Challenges Overcome

One of the specialist rooms had significant extraction systems for the process and needed to remain under negative pressure throughout the operational state, this required special considerations in the holistic design of the AHU, the extraction system and overall control of the systems associated within this room.

The project was delivered to an exceptional standard of service, on-time at the beginning of a global pandemic Covid-19. Simple tasks such as securing accommodation and finding places for our engineers to eat was difficult, whilst government information was at times conflicting and often changed daily.
